West Ashley Revitalization Commission
The next meeting will occur on February 8 at Town & Country Inn, 2008 Savannah Hwy. Dover Kohl, the planning consultant hired to work on the West Ashley Master Plan, will present at this meeting. See the rest of the agenda.

West Ashley Master Plan

We want to hear your ideas, suggestions and concerns. The process will include numerous public meetings, workshops and presentations, which will begin in a few months. The West Ashley Master Plan is intended to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of West Ashley. The Master Plan will set broad policies, identify specific actions, and provide goals, objectives, and strategies. The West Ashley Revitalization Commission will serve as the steering committee but public input from all members of the community is crucial during this process.  
Dover Kohl, the planning consultant hired to work on the West Ashley Master Plan, has local and national experience in complex planning projects. Dover Kohl is renowned for public engagement, visual and accessible planning documents, realistic recommendations, and achievable implementation strategies. Dover Kohl will present at the February 8 meeting of the West Ashley Revitalization Commission
Church Creek Drainage Basin &
Flood Reduction Study 

In December, the City posted a Request for Proposals for additional study of the Church Creek Drainage Basin. Learn about the City's efforts in Church Creek here.
State of the City
Mayor Tecklenburg delivered the 2017 State of the City Address on January 24. Read the transcript.It was the first State of the City Address held in West Ashley and had many West Ashley items.
Mayor Speaks to Local Business Leaders

Louis Waring, Jr. Senior Center Dedication
On January 23, Mayor Tecklenburg, members of Charleston City Council, Roper St. Francis and the Waring family participated in the groundbreaking for the Louis Waring, Jr. West Ashley Senior Center. (View more here.)

2017 West Ashley Farmers Market

Following the successful fall 2016 pilot market, the market will resume at Ackerman Park on Wednesday afternoons from April 19 - October 4, 2017Follow the market on Facebook for updates and information about special events!

Applications for both the Charleston Farmers Market and West Ashley Farmers Market must be submitted by Wednesday, February 15 to be considered. Applications are available at CharlestonArts.org or at the Office of Cultural Affairs, Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm at 75 Calhoun St, Ste 3800. For more information, you can reach the Office of Cultural Affairs at 843-724-7305.
Whole Foods Project Kicks Off

Know Your West Ashley Parks:
West Ashley Park
The West Ashley Park is the City's largest recreational park. The park has grown to 203 acres plus a nature preserve.  Pedestrian and bicycle traffic are encouraged by a path connecting to West Ashley High School which connects to the Battery Gaillard and Church Creek neighborhoods. Providence Commons is connected through Wayah Drive. (Get directions to the park.)
 
The park provides active and passive recreation. It has eight athletic fields, including lighted soccer and baseball fields. Each cluster of fields has a playground and a concessions/restroom building.The soccer building includes a large picnic shelter for gatherings. An off-leash dog park is behind the shelter. Nature trails wind through, incorporating a disc golf course.Two docks provide access to a lake, and a dike between the lake and Church Creek provides water access. Fishing, crabbing and non-motorized boating are encouraged.
