DISSOLVABLE FRAC PLUGS
|
|
Advances in drilling and completion technology are resulting in improved recoveries through longer horizontal lateral lengths and larger well stimulation designs. During the early years of the Haynesville Shale development the typical lateral length was 4,500 feet and stimulation designs targeted 1,200 pounds of proppant per lateral foot. Operators in the Haynesville Shale are catching up with the trends prevalent in other basins to drill longer laterals and increase the proppant loading per lateral foot. With today's technology, the typical lateral length has extended to 8,500 feet and in some cases up to 10,000 plus feet with stimulation designs targeting anywhere from 3,000 to 4,000 pounds of proppant per lateral foot. One of the latest developments in completion tool technology is the dissolvable frac plug. The purpose of this article is to provide general details on dissolvable frac plug technology and the operational and economic benefits when used in longer horizontal laterals. Read More

RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN COMPLIANCE AUDIT
What is a Risk Management Plan?
In 1990 the Environmental Protection Agency passed the Clean Air Act. On June 20, 1996, the Accidental Release Prevention (ARP) requirements were promulgated and added to that act. Those rules state that if a facility contains a regulated substance, either toxic or flammable, that exceeds a threshold quantity of that substance, the requirements of those ARP provisions apply and a Risk Management Plan for that facility must be developed. The threshold quantity for all regulated flammable materials is 10,000 pounds. The RMP is a formal document that outlines what the material(s) are, what steps have been taken to prevent the release of that hazardous material and, if a release were to occur, what will be done to mitigate that release to minimize its effect on the general public and the environment.
An RMP must be reviewed, revised, and reissued every five years. The statute also requires that a Compliance Audit of each RMP be conducted every three years, and that audit and its results and findings must be documented.
Brammer can conduct these required compliance audits for you from a third-party perspective for an accurate assessment of the current condition and effectiveness of your ARP systems in place. The services we offer to ensure an adequate evaluation of your RMP include:
- On-Site Evaluation and Assessment conducted per EPA directives
- Review of your current RMP
- Issuance of Formal Report including:
- any and all supporting documentation
- outlining elements of compliance and deficiencies that still exist
- recommendations for meeting all Plan requirements
- future oversight to monitor Action Items to completion
Please contact Larry Cooper for more information regarding RMP Compliance Audit services.
