Importing Maynard's custom Financial Charts

During and following Maynard's excellent webinar we received lots of requests to provide a method for importing Maynard's custom Financial charts. We took this challenge straight to the Development team and they have come up with a quick solution to share the charts now (see below) but will be looking at a longer term solution where these are available in the default Financial Chart setting.

So, to import Maynard's charts now:
  • Open SharePad
  • Open the Chat room window:
    • Desktop: Click on the Chat room button (The speech bubble icon in the top right hand corner of SharePad)
    • IPad / Mobile device: Click on setting menu (cog symbol in top right hand corner of SharePad) and select 'Toggle chat window'
  • The chat room window should appear in the bottom left hand corner.
  • At the top right of the chat room window - click on 'Change' followed by 'Search for a chat room'
  • Type "Maynard" in the search box and shouldn't take long to see "Maynard's Financial Charts" appear below - click on this and hit the 'select' button
  • The 'Maynard's Financial Charts' chat box will open and in it you will see that Maynard has kindly shared all of the charts mentioned in his Webinar.
  • Click on the Green download arrow next to each chart you wish to download. SharePad may ask you if you wish to “Change current share to see this downloaded chart?” – This just means it will select the share attached to Maynard chart before it opens so, click 'Confirm'.
  • Once the chart opens, in the bottom left corner of your Financial chart window you will see a red triangle with the words “Chat chart” – click on this triangle.
  • You will then be asked “Would you like to import this chat chart into your settings?” – click confirm.
  • The custom chart has now been added into the “Setting” menu at the bottom of the financial chart window for you to open whenever you like.
  • If you wish to rename the custom chart in the “Setting” menu just open the setting menu and near the bottom of the pop-up menu you will find “Rename this setting”.

Opportunity to nominate Alistair Blair's next share!
Our columnist Alistair Blair invites you to nominate the next share he analyses.

Alistair’s painstaking research seeks to arrive at a 360 degree review of a company and its prospects and compare them to its share price. But he says that’s the easy bit. Much more work goes into trawling for a promising-looking share, likely – following the painstaking bit - to yield that sought-after “undervalued” conclusion. His two picks so far have done well. Against a flat market, Scapa is up 29% since June and Kainos is up 23% in seven weeks.

Now, he invites you to suggest his third pick. You’re invited to nominate one share which you think is undervalued.

The ideal format for your proposal:
  • Share name
  • Three favourable factors – a maximum of 200 words (but as few as 30 might serve perfectly well).

Alistair sets the following financial parameters:
  • Market cap between £50m and £2 billion
  • Fixed Charge Cover should be minimum of 7
    • 'Fxd chge cov' is included in the Safety section of the SharePad Financial Summary. If you do need to add it, click on 'Design' button at the bottom of the Financial Summary window and select 'edit' and you can find 'Fxd chage cov' under the 'Safety' section. Drag and drop the button to replace one of the 4 Safety criteria you have selected already.
    • Alternatively, for both SharePad and ShareScope you can add 'Fixed Charge Cover' as a column in your list view.
    • For both SharePad and ShareScope you can also filter/data mine by 'Fixed Charge Cover' too.
  • Net Gearing (ex) % should be maximum 40
    • 'Net Gearing (ex)' is also included in the Safety section of the SharePad Financial Summary. If you do need to add it, click on 'Design' button at the bottom of the Financial Summary window and select 'edit' and you can find 'Net gear (ex)' under the 'Safety' section. Drag and drop the button to replace one of the 4 Safety criteria you have selected already.
    • Alternatively, for both SharePad and ShareScope you can add 'Net gearing' as a column in your list view, making sure not to include 'intangibles'.
    • For both SharePad and ShareScope you can also filter/data mine by Net gearing', making sure not to include 'intangibles'.
  • Maximum of one new director amongst the top three directors and the more joint service the top three have, the better.

We have no idea how many shares will be nominated, but if all goes well, one of these will be his pick for his next article due beginning of February next year.

Please send your nomintations to marketing@sharescope.co.uk
