National Poetry Month is an incredible month for poetry and writing in Alabama.

The Magic City Poetry Festival will be take over Birmingham, Alabama in the first week of April. Here's the schedule so far:

OPENING NIGHT MIXER & OPEN MIC
Monday, April 2 from 6-8 pm at Studio 2500

"50 YEARS POST-MLK: MEDIA, THE MAGIC CITY, AND HOW THE SOUTH WAS WON"
Wednesday, April 4 from 6-8 pm at the Birmingham Civil Rights Insitutte

WINE, CHEESE, AND POETRY SOCIAL
Thursday, April 5 from 6-8 pm at Naked Art Gallery

COMMUNITY POETRY SHOWCASE: MCPF FINALE
Saturday, April 7 from 3-5 pm at D.I.S.C.O.

NEED VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are needed and appreciated for assistance with clean-up following any of these events. Please email Alina (rainscented@gmail.com) if you can help us tidy up and rearrange furniture. Alina is purchasing FREE MCPF T-SHIRTS for all those who help clean up after events!

This event features local poets Lauren Goodwin Slaughter, L. Lamar Wilson, Alina Stefanescu, Laura Secord, and youth poets from the Magic City's very own Real Life Poets, Inc. 

If you'd like to get on the mic, we'll have an open mic portion of the event as well--come share your work!

Refreshments will be provided by Church Street Coffee and Books, and Green Bucket Press will be selling special festival-themed merchandise. And, you can sign up for your membership to our sponsoring organization, Alabama Writers' Conclave!
