PYC Youth and Advisors are cordially invited to enjoy - or not, depending on your “world” classification - a meal, activities and a speaker about hunger.  Be prepared to leave with a full tummy or the same empty feeling which 85% of the world’s population goes to bed with each night.
 
Admission = $1.25 per person which is the amount that 1.4 billion people in developing countries live on per day.  We will be passing a plate!

Special Worship at Crittenden Presbyterian Church

On Sunday March 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. Crittenden Presbyterian Church is having a special worship to honor and thanks those who have lead worship, been a member, or have needed our church through the 110 years of worship at Crittenden. 
 
Network of Religious Communities Updates

Annual Meeting Summary

The well attended Network of Religious Communities Annual Meeting, held Thursday evening February 4, 2016 held at the Hindu Cultural Society and Temple, revealed the significance of spirituality and medicine and healing.

In his presentation Dr David Holmes added Spirituality to the Bio, Psycho, Social Model of Health and medical condition.  Dr Khalid Qazi, Dr Jeannette Ludwig, Rev Jeff Carter and Rabbi Alex Lazarus-Klein each shared their traditions teachings on healthcare, healing and and the end of life.

17 persons who provided leadership in the Spirituality and Medicine program for UB Medical Students were recognized and honored for their contribution.

Sue Tannehill was elected President and Mary Jane Russell was elected Treasurer of the NRC for 2016.
Tandoori India Restaurant provided and excellent Indian meal for 124 persons.

The Hindu Cultural Society was a wonderful host and provided a guided tour of the Temple following the meeting.

The NRC has two small connecting offices located on the second floor (elevator available) of its building at 1272 Delaware Avenue.
 
Offices are 112 sq ft and  128 sq ft with connecting doors and  internal storage space.  Utilities, internet, meeting space and parking included.  Phone service, copy and fax machines available. The total annual cost of the connecting offices, with utilities, is $3,000.00.

Shared Youth Director

Two Presbyterian churches in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY, (North Presbyterian and University Presbyterian) seek an enthusiastic Youth Director possessing good sense, tireless energy, and great organization to lead our youth in grades 7 through 12 in Christian fellowship.

The successful candidate will plan and supervise monthly fellowship activities with educational and fun programs that reflect our mission statement and maintain communications with all participating youth between fellowship activities in a way that builds a sense of caring Christian community.

Compensation will be $1,100 per month based upon an estimated need to dedicate 24 to 36 hours, with an average of 30 hours, per month to fulfill the requirements of the position.

Part-time Christian Education Director (20 hours/week, salaried)

First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo is hiring a part-time Christian Education Director to facilitate growth and retention of Sunday school classes, serve as representative to the Christian Education Committee and moderate monthly meetings, help with the recruitment and training of volunteer Sunday school teachers and nursery staff, plan Adult Christian Education programs and facilitate classes when required, and assist with special ministries and events during the program year.

The ideal candidate will be organized, motivated, and visionary, with a passion for Christian Education ministry that nurtures the faith of its participants; and demonstrate the ability to prioritize, problem solve, manage change and multiple projects, and have an inviting and approachable demeanor and the ability to lead, engage, and encourage others.

Director of Youth Ministries, Hamburg
 
The primary goal of Hamburg New York Presbyterian Church's Children's and Youth ministry is to bring youth from grades PreK-12 into significant relationship with Jesus Christ, and to guide them as Christ's disciples in every aspect of life-to learn and know of God's deep love for them, to love and be a significant part of church, and to have Christian community with one another. The Director of Youth Ministries will demonstrate a quality of life that commends the Gospel to all people.
 
Skills Required:
  • Active Christian with an understanding and support of the Presbyterian Reformed Tradition.
  • Possess (or working full time towards completion) Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree (minimum).
  • Possess a valid NYS driver's license.
  • Experience teaching of children and youth. (Degree in Christian Education or Youth Ministry can be substituted.)
