Federal Government to Deport Refugee Families:
Please Call White House

866-961-4293 OR 888-907-2053

From: Rev. John R. Long, (716) 877-6896
johnrlong17@verizon.net

These refugee families are mostly from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala, who fled to the U.S. in the past couple of years. Those three countries are very dangerous, with gang and drug violence, and corrupt governments. These refugees, many children, have run from persecution, rape, being jailed, torture, and murder. In some cases children came to find parents already here.

To deport these people back to the countries they fled is inhumane, returning them to the danger they ran from. Upon arrival in their home countries they may be killed or abused as they had been. In any case, these deportations will break up families here.

Deporting them is unjust. Many have been held in jail here in the U.S. since they arrived. Our refugee law is complicated and technical. It is very hard to make a case for asylum without a lawyer, and lawyers are not provided. Few have funds for a lawyer. In addition many were not provided individual complete hearings of their case but herded through courts without understanding what was happening –especially if they did not speak English, as many did not.

It is expected that the administration is planning to deport thousands, raiding families, probably schools and work places. There may be violence in these raids and people may be killed. These are people who came seeking mercy, not receiving mercy!

In addition to calling the White House, please contact other elected officials who might be able to help, reach out to the news media, and use social networks.

We know the Bible repeatedly speaks of three protected people, widows, orphans, and “the stranger among you.” As we celebrate Christmas we rediscover that Jesus and his families were refugees themselves, fleeing Herod who was trying to have the baby Jesus killed.

Thank you for whatever you can do.
