Back the Future Event HUGE Success

By Suzi Kennon, 2VP Programs

We’d like to thank YOU, our CommYOUnity, for making our Back to School Back the Future such a huge success.  A good time was definitely had by all.

We’d like to thank the PTAs that participated, Dr. Vinson, Mayor Hogue, the Wylie High and Wylie East cheerleaders, our vendors and our sponsors for showing that they believe in backing every student in Wylie ISD’s future.

Please make sure and thank our sponsors as you visit their businesses around town:  Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, Wylie Karate, First Choice ER, iN2.net, RBFCU, Stacie Gooch – Ebby Halliday, Dance Company of Wylie, and Wylie First Baptist donated the bounce houses.

We appreciate their support.  We are off to a great start this year because of YOU!

Membership Growing Strong!

By Monica Munoz, 3VP Membership

The local PTAs for Wylie ISD are off to a great start for the 2015/2016 school year!!  Most qualified for the "Head Start" award, which entails having accomplished 75% or more of their previous years' membership totals all by August 31st!  Way to go!

Council has also adjusted the way the Matey program works.  When Council receives a Matey form, the information is recorded and dues are submitted directly to Texas PTA for the dues portions, and the difference owed to the locals, along with their rosters, are sent to their respective PTAS.

Coming up for the month of September with Memberships~please join all local PTA Memberships Representatives on Thursday, September 24th, at 6:30pm, at the ESC for a "Round-table discussion".

September 30th is the deadline for Texas PTAs "Early Bird" award which requires all PTAs to have achieved 100% or more of their previous years' memberships.

Thank you to all for your hard work, time and dedication to help "Back the Future" and insuring we have one voice for every child!

From the President

by Heidi PeCoy, President

What is the purpose of the Wylie ISD Council of PTAs, you ask? We are here to be the primary contact, provide support, information and training for the local PTA units in our district. Our goal is to strengthen the PTAs at our campuses.

I have had the pleasure of conducting local board orientation training these past couple of weeks and I enjoyed hearing about the way each campus promotes membership and the programs that they offer at their campus.

As a Council, we had the opportunity to provide Basics training in August and we were very pleased with the number of individuals who want to learn more about their position on the board. In most training sessions, best practices were discussed and the local leaders asked plenty of questions.  Council encourages community involvement at all campuses and PTAs.

Be sure to check out our Wylie PTA Matey program and become a PTA member today and back the future of the students in Wylie ISD.
