The Imaginations Were Flying...

by Tricia Johns, Arts in Education Chair

This year we had tremendous participation in the annual Reflections program. Almost 200 students advanced from their local campuses to the Council Level. Those receiving awards were honored last week at receptions in the Smith Public Library.

The 16 Overall Award of Excellence winners will advance to the State PTA level. All other artwork will be on display at The Wylie Art Gallery during the month of February.

Texas Sales Tax Due

by Kim Cubbage, Treasurer

Most PTAs are on an annual filing basis; therefore their returns are due on January 20 for the previous calendar (January- December) year. If the due date falls on Saturday, Sunday, or a legal holiday, the return may be postmarked on the next business day and still be considered timely.

The return must be filed if you have a permit, even if you have no sales tax due during the reporting period.

From the President

by Heidi PeCoy, President

Our community truly reflected the values of the PTA and the Wylie Way in their response for our neighbors during the recent tornado.

The Wylie Way Outfitters clothes closet took tubs and boxes of standardized dress items to Community ISD before their classes resumed. This week we will take two loads of school and teacher supplies to Red Oak ISD. All of these items were donated in a heart-felt response to the social media call-out for help.

I am proud to call Wylie ISD home because YOU really are our Wylie Way CommYOUnity!
