Welcome Lou Anna Red Corn to NCA's Board of Directors

Dear colleagues,

Lou Anna Red CornThis year, Accredited CACs, Chapters, and current NCA Board Members nominated five outstanding qualified applicants for the position of Prosecutor Representative and voted to choose a candidate to serve on the Board. Our thanks to those who nominated these qualified applicants, and to the representatives of Accredited Members and Chapters for their votes.

With that, please welcome Lou Anna Red Corn to NCA's Board of Directors! She joins the Board January 1, 2019. The previous day, December 31, 2018, our current prosecutor representative, Justin Fitzsimmons, rotates out of the prosecutorial position, but will remain on the Board and Executive Committee. We and the entire CAC movement thank Justin for his service in the prosecutor role and look forward to our continued work with him

Lou Anna Red Corn is in her second year as Fayette (Ky.) Commonwealth’s Attorney, but her 32nd year as a prosecutor in the office. She is the first female Commonwealth’s Attorney for Lexington, the second largest jurisdiction in Kentucky, and as member of the Osage Nation, she is the first Native American to serve as a Commonwealth’s Attorney in Kentucky. Before becoming a prosecutor Lou Anna was a public defender, and worked briefly in civil practice.

Lou Anna is a career prosecutor who has tried more than 225 felony cases to juries, including 51 homicides. She is a strong advocate for child victims, especially sexual abuse and exploitation victims. Lou Anna help establish the Fayette County Child Sexual Abuse Multi-Disciplinary Team, which has remained a model for other teams statewide. She helped write the Kentucky Model Protocol for Child Sexual Abuse Multi-Disciplinary Teams and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Child Sexual Abuse Manual. She is also a founding and current board member of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass, Inc., serving as treasurer, and currently serving as board secretary.

In 2018 the Kentucky Association of Children’s Advocacy Centers recognized Lou Anna as one of their Legendary Partners and awarded her the “Hero’s Blue Cape” for her work on behalf of children and with the Children’s Advocacy Center, and the University of Kentucky, College of Law named her Distinguished Alumni of the Year.

Lou Anna received her Juris Doctor (1984) and Bachelor of Arts (1981) degrees from the University of Kentucky. She is married to attorney Luke Morgan, and they have two sons.
