Food Empowerment Project (F.E.P.) wishes you and yours the happiest of festive seasons. We are grateful for you, our loyal supporters. Together, we have made 2018 a powerful year for vegan food justice!

1. Veganism: Dairy Outreach

Our vegan food justice efforts continue as we spread the word about the realities of the dairy industry! Last month, we held another successful dairy outreach event in Sonoma County, CA, the heart of dairy country and the so-called “happy cows.” We handed out Follow Your Heart cheese to a very enthusiastic public! We’re thrilled that the community is so open to our message.

2. F.E.P. Is Feeling the Love!

F.E.P. made LiveKindly’s “9 Vegan Charities to Consider for Your Holiday Donations” list, and we got another shout-out from them in this piece!
We are delighted they mentioned us as a non-profit worthy of support not once, but twice!
We’re also tremendously grateful to Orchard Grocer in NYC for picking us to receive 10% of deli sales on November 27th!
Be a part of making F.E.P. a force for good in the world. Donate today and double the power of your donation with our $50K match! Need more reasons to donate? Check out our 2017 Annual Report showing how we turn your generosity into tangible vegan food justice action for everyone!

Some 2018 highlights:
  • With our farm worker justice partner groups, we successfully changed California’s 50-mile rule.
  • We organized our biggest school supply drive ever for the children of farm workers.
  • We published our new Vegan Mexican Food recipe booklet in English and Spanish.
  • We launched our dairy outreach campaign in the heart of California’s dairy country.
  • We also launched our Fight for the Ocean effort, because vegan food justice includes our friends in the sea!
Some dreams for 2019:
  • Spread the word about our recipe booklet to Latinx publications.
  • Start another delicious vegan food website like (hint: it's going to be masaráp!).
  • Expand our dairy outreach.
  • Grow our Fight for the Ocean campaign.
Thank you for standing with us as we fight for food justice for everyone!
Help us reach our year-end goal!

3. Access to Healthy Food: Safeway Days of Action and Sign-on Letter

F.E.P. is keeping the pressure on Safeway! We know with our passion and determination we can hold this corporation accountable and convince Safeway to change their restrictive deeds policy for the sake of community health.
Our Safeway Days of Action coinciding with Human Rights Day were a great success! Check out the photos on Facebook!
Twenty-four organizations signed on to our letter calling on Safeway to end their outrageous corporate policy. We are grateful to these groups for recognizing the importance of keeping the pressure on Safeway to make changes! We sent the letter to the CEO of Albertsons (owner of Safeway) on December 10th—International Human Rights Day.
