1. Join Our Team!

Food Empowerment Project (F.E.P.) is hiring! We’re looking for an Operations and Development Manager who will work out of our office in Petaluma, CA.
You can find full details of the job in the description we posted on Idealist.
Please spread the word to people you think would be a good fit!

2. Needed: Location to Fill Backpacks for Our School Supply Drive

You all know how important our school supply drive is for the children of farm workers. It is vital to show the families who grow and pick our food how much we appreciate all they do and how committed we are to their children’s success.
Last year, we distributed 461 backpacks crammed full of school supplies to a long line of eager children. We can’t wait to see the smiles on their faces again this year!
Can you help us show these kiddos some love by hooking us up with a free space where we can pack (and possibly store) the school supplies? Ideally, we would have the space for a few days, but we can make it work in two days. It just needs to be a place where volunteers can come and we can have some food.

Anywhere in Marin, south Sonoma County, or Santa Clara County would be perfect! If you know of someplace we can use, please get in touch with email us at!

3. Upcoming Talks

F.E.P.’s founder and executive director, lauren Ornelas, is busy getting the word out about our holistic vision for vegan food justice. Here are some places to catch up with her in May.
Sunday, May 6th – Los Angeles, CA
VegFest Los Angeles
lauren is speaking and we’ll have a table.
Saturday, May 19th – Oakland, CA
Oakland VegFest
lauren will be speaking and we’ll have a table.

4. Double the Power of Your Donation

We are so grateful that a generous supporter is matching all donations to F.E.P. up to $50,000. This means that your donation will be doubled!
April is our #30for30 campaign, honoring lauren’s 30th veganniversary by asking people to donate in $30 increments ($30, $60, $90, etc.). With the $50K match, you can double the power of your donation!

Join us in celebrating lauren’s 30th anniversary of choosing mercy over misery. Donate today!

5. NYC Vegan Drinks Benefit

Thursday, April 26th – New York City

NYC supporters, be sure to come out for NYC Vegan Drinks. They are raising money for F.E.P. and one of our advisory board members, Bina Ahmad, will be there!

6. Feeling the Love from the All-Vegan Grocers

A huge thank you to the amazing folx at Food Fight! Grocery who raised an incredible $5381.19 by making us their beneficiary for the month of March. So much gratitude to Food Fight! for choosing us and to everyone who shopped there in March!
We also want to give a shout out the NYC’s all-vegan Orchard Grocer, which is only selling vegan chocolate that is on our recommended list.  Thanks so much, Orchard, for making it easier for people to eat their ethics.
