Can you help with Western Ground Parrot surveys?

Volunteer opportunities

We have just learned from the Parks and Wildlife Service in Albany that the annual autumn Western Ground Parrot monitoring surveys at Cape Arid National Park have been scheduled. Below are the dates:

survey of the Pasley area    19 - 23 March
survey of Poison Creek area 16 - 20 April

The survey team will leave Esperance on Monday morning and return on Friday. Good hearing is essential as participants will need to identify Western Ground Parrots by their call. Training will be provided for those unfamiliar with the call. Please note that camping will take place in remote areas with no facilities.

Please contact Jeff Pinder from the Parks and Wildlife Service for more information and to register:

On Thursday, 8 March 2018 at 2:00pm

Doors open at 1:30pm. The screening is followed by a Q&A session.

You can still help us with fund-raising for the captive breeding project at Perth Zoo.

We have 2 vouchers for a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the Western Ground Parrot facilities at Perth Zoo left. The tour of the facilities, which are off-limits to the general public, will take place in March. For $750 you can secure your place  on a unique tour of the aviary facilities where attempts are under way to breed one of the world's rarest parrots. Please contact us for more details.
