MARCH UPDATE

Poverty is like a disease that can be transmitted from parent to child and from one generation to the next. So is it curable?  Of course!  With God, all things are possible! When we partner with a young mom, we do so with the idea that if she is given options with success tools, she will become stable, make better decisions for herself, and be a more effective provider for her children.  We operate with the mindset that as her life changes, so will the way she sees herself.  She was already Chosen and destined for something great the day she was born and so were her children.  She just needs to realize it.  Meet Endda & Angel. They are two good examples of young ladies who are clawing their way out of adversity and we are humbled and honored to walk the journey with them.

Endda begins studying for her Dental Assistant exam next week with her mentor.  She recently had to set some difficult boundaries with her family in an effort to take the first step to a better life for her and her daughter.  She heard about our program from a friend who succeeded with Chosen. So how will we help?
  • We will introduce her to a mentor that can encourage her and help her study for her Dental Assistant Exam.
  • We will invite her to our monthly dinners so that she can interact with her new support group of peers, mentors, and other Chosen encouragers.
  • When she passes her exam, we will help her with some job readiness training, help her look for a job, and get her some interview attire.
  • When she gets her job, we will help her with a few pairs of scrubs for work, help her secure child care, and make sure she is equipped with the necessary soft skills to keep the job and thrive in her new environment.
  • When she earns her first paycheck we will have already walked her through her first financial literacy class and taught her how to budget her money.
Her financial stability, new network, and learned success tools should give her the peace she needs to continue to be the best mother she can be.

Angel is going to receive a vocational scholarship from us to attend insurance licensing school. She has overcome tremendous ordeals to get where she is now and we are excited for a big breakthrough!  So how will we help her successfully go though this process?
  • We will find and pay for her child care for the entire week that she is in class.
  • We will encourage and pray for her throughout the week that she is in class.
  • We will help her study for her State exam once she finishes class.
  • When she passes her exam, we will help her with some job readiness training, help her look for a job, and get her some interview attire.
  • When she gets her job, we will help her with a few business casual outfits, help her secure permanent child care, and make sure she is equipped with the necessary soft skills to keep the job and thrive in her new environment.
  • When she earns her first paycheck we will have already walked her through her first financial literacy class and taught her how to budget her money.
Her financial stability, new network, and learned success tools should give her the peace she needs to continue to be the best mother she can be.

Keeping in mind that their journey is just as important as their transformation, we'll keep you posted on how they are doing from time to time.  God bless each of you for your support!  It has made an outstanding difference in the lives of the young moms that we serve.
