Liz with her dog, Major.

Welcome, Liz!

We are pleased to introduce our newest staff member, Liz Fyles. She joined the NeighborWorks team as the Staff Accountant in late December.

"I grew up in Orwell, Vermont and graduated from Castleton University with a double major in Accounting & Management in the spring of 2018. I recently bought my first home with my long-time boyfriend in Castleton where we have a great backyard for our two very loved German Shepherds, Koda and Major. I enjoy being outdoors, hiking with my dogs, swimming, and spending time with friends and family. What drew me to NeighborWorks was how the focus is on strengthening the community through promoting safe, efficient, stable housing opportunities through education and services."

Icicles may look pretty, but they could mean your roof is leaking heat!

Kick-Start The New Year With An Energy Audit!

When it comes to weatherization and buttoning up, knowing where to start is often the biggest hurdle. If you ask yourself questions such as "how do I know if my current insulation is enough" or if you worry that the moisture in your basement is a health issue, then you may want to consult our experts.

HEAT Squad can help you get you on the right path towards comfort, savings, and safety. Our customers save on average almost $1,000 on their energy bills every year and feel their homes are healthier for their families.

Our BPI-certified HEAT Squad auditors will perform a comprehensive energy audit, including a full visual inspection, a health and safety check of your home, infrared thermal imaging (perfect for this time of year), and a blower door test. Call us today at 802-438-2303 to schedule an energy audit.

Millennials need to prepare for homeownership.

Rutland, A Good Millennial City

Millennials are opting for more affordable small cities and starting to outcompete older generations as they look for single-family homes - not the apartments once considered "their market." Major factors for buyers no matter what generation still revolve around family, work requirements, and affordability. So what are millennials looking for? A house they can afford and for communities that foster relationships and connections.

NWWVT Gingerbread Houses

For the second year in a row, NWWVT donated gingerbread house kits to the annual Children's Christmas Party hosted by the American Legion Post 87 of West Rutland Vermont. Kids of all ages enjoyed snacks, family time, and crafts, and of course, making their very own gingerbread houses. There was also a visit from a very special and busy guy from the North Pole! A big thank you to all of the amazing members of the American Legion Post 87 of West Rutland for your tireless work in our community!

NWWVT Board of Director members Bradley GoodHale and Jennifer Yakunovich explored the food truck scene in Portland, OR.

Staff and Board Attends NTI

Executive Director, Ludy Biddle, led three Board members, Bradley GoodHale, Keri Franzoni, and Jennifer Yakunovich, to the NeighborWorks Training Institute (NTI) in Portland, Oregon in December. They participated in peer networking and course work to build upon skills to address community development, revitalization work, and neighborhood enrichment. Part of their commitment is to explore and examine diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do from our Board to our customer services.
