Always Be Curious (and Dance with your hands!)

Apparently Hand-Dancing is the Thing

Mike Balsom and Mark Bennett of COGECOTV did an amazing job of capturing what LOCOL and the Collaboratory are all about in this short video—even with my distracting hand-flinging.
LOCOL also made local news last week in the Niagara Advance, and in our weekly column in The Town Crier/Niagara This Week.
You're following us on these guys, right?

Here's what you're doing this weekend

Saturday, April 1, 3–5pm:
Grow Heirloom Organics with Rose Bartel, II

Learn to grow organically; leave with piles of knowledge and 4 (new, different-from-last-week) organic heirloom tomato plants. You'll start your own organic potatoes too!
We'll also be planting 5-6 different types of flowers for cutting and making gorgeous arrangements à la Rose.
Watch for Rose's farm tour in June, where we'll see how it all works, and learn how to build our own bouquets.
Sunday, April 2, 12–1:30:
FamilyMakery

This week we'll be getting the 'hop' on the Easter Bunny, and making fun-lovely Easter crafts.
Last week the gangle made patterned clay bowls, sock donuts, googly-eye bookmarks and more!
Monday, April 3, 6:30-7:30 pm
Excel at Excel

Learn how to set up and use an Excel spreadsheet for bookkeeping, creating databases, or making detailed lists.
Tuesday, April 4, 1:00-3:00 pm
Coworking

Work not-alone! Network, refer, connect; ask and answer questions, create and enjoy community. (We don't even demand that you change out of your pyjamas--but hey, it does give you an excuse to dress up if you want to.)
Tuesday, April 4, 6:30-8:00 pm
Choir Nation Niagara

Sadly there will be NO Choir Nation Niagara this week, with the two key participants having commitments elsewhere. But gear up for next week, and let's see if we can beat our record attendance of 24 great singers!
Wednesday, April 5, 6:30-7:15 pm
Introduction to Meditation

This is 45 minutes just for YOU! A relaxed approach to learning how to meditate, and how to make it part of your routine.
Led by Corey Kantola
Thursday, April 6, 6:30-7:15 pm
How Do You See the World?

Using Feldenkrais techniques, hone your vision, improve spatial awareness and learn more about interacting with the world around you.
Led by Fariya Doctor (Feldenkrais in Niagara)
Thursday, April 6, 2:00-4:00 pm
Going Abstract

A fun and freeing form of photography.
With photographer and blogger Kim Manley Ort
Thursday, April 6, 6:00-7:15 pm
Women and Money

This seminar series is designed to provide women with a solid understanding of how to manage money and invest for the future.
Led by Geoffrey Hoover (Lecturer, Brock University)
Please take this engaging 3-minute quiz so I can stop pondering and start programming!
In the weeks to come: beautiful, useful and contemporary woodworking projects; how to produce and record music; art attacks; beekeeping; announcing Human Library books; 3 different types of meditation; Feldenkrais; music workshops; loads of kids' activities; and the very exciting 'more'! I promise to keep you posted for as long as you'll let me.

Please note: Activities are only confirmed after the registration of at least 5 participants. So please avail yourself of the RSVP button on the calendar postings, or just email me at gatheringniagara@gmail.com. Thanks!
