A note from Damien

Kia ora Mounties, thanks for taking the time to read through our Pipeline and stay up to date with dates and info.

As a school we're pretty busy not only finishing up for the year with our teaching team writing the last learning story for each of our Mounties and supporting the class creations process, but also planning for transitioning our Mounties from this year's class to the next. They are working extremely hard for your kids, if you see any of our teachers around please take a moment to thank them, they have massive hearts for our kids (or even an email is much appreciated).

As we look to next year we have a focus on enriching the learning of our Mounties even further and have a few things planned for 2021. We'll be kicking off Discovery Time on Fridays, this time will provide our Mounties opportunities to discover new and exciting areas of learning. To start with we'll be including our school staff but as we get this running there'll be opportunities for our community to join us in providing learning opportunities for our Mounties. We're really excited about this and know our Mounties will really enjoy these new learning opportunities.

I'm getting quite excited about the opportunity to catch up with many of you at our PTA Xmas in the Park on the 9th.  This is our last PTA run event for the year. The PTA do a great job of supporting our school, giving our community opportunities to get together and have some fun and also to provide some of the things our school couldn't do without. So if you see our PTA around (or at the Xmas in the Park) thank them for all they do for our kids, they're a great bunch!

Thanks for your ongoing support.

Nicali, Ben, Warren, Sarah, Leigh, Juliet, Damien
We’ve been getting really positive feedback from parents and teachers saying that students are getting more out of their swimming sessions at school now that the pool is heated…although now it’s harder to get them out rather than in!

Bartletts has also had a great response and has just over 50 students enrolled in their after-school swim school. They will be opening registrations for term 1 next year soon and we expect an even greater response to this as students will be able to get a full term of lessons and won’t already be committed elsewhere.  Part of our agreement with Bartletts is that they help us maintain and clean the pool as well as return a share of their profits back to the school so enrolling with them is not only convenient but also benefits Mount Primary.

We were made aware of teachers buying sunscreen for their students to use so the PTA has kindly offered to sponsor this and donate a pump bottle of Oasis sunscreen to each classroom.  This is useful not only for sports days etc but also to reapply after swimming.  This is made possible thanks to your continued support of PTA organised fundraisers and events so thank you.
The next Board meeting will be in the staffroom tonight - Thursday 26th November at 6:00pm

Huge thanks to our Pool Upgrade Project sponsors:
Exciting News!  We have some spaces for out of zone students to join us at Mount Primary over the next year.  If you know someone who might be keen to become a Mountie let them know about this.
2021 Pending Enrolments
We are underway in planning our 2021 classes, and to help us out we need to know if you or your friends are planning to have children attend Mount Primary as Mounties next year.  We are especially interested in those who are turning 5 over the Christmas period and into the first few months of the 2021 school year.

If you have not yet, please let us know about upcoming enrolments.  Contact Heather Brown in the office as soon as possible, and  download an enrolment form from the school website

Stuff the Bus our “Giving” House Challenge 2020

It’s that time of the year for our big Term 4 House Competition. As we look to develop and shape Mounties at our school one of the things we support is giving to others. We know that our Mounties live in a great community and are well supported with the things they need in their lives, this is not the case for all young people in Tauranga.

Our House Captains will decorate boxes (in house colours) to collect wrapped presents for local charities to give out through the MORE FM “Stuff The Bus” competition.  These boxes will be placed in the office foyer area.

These need to be wrapped and labelled with the age and gender the present is suitable for.

The Challenge:

As this is a giving challenge our school encourages Mounties to use their pocket money or do jobs to use money that they have earned (rather than just being given money to buy this) to get a present to give. It doesn’t have to be brand new, big or expensive but rather a gift they (each child(ren) want to give to someone else to help make this time of year special for them.

10 House Points per present will be given out at the end of this competition. We’ll also look for larger gifts for bonus points oo.

Competition finishes Friday the 4th of December at 2pm when the bus will be at Mount Primary so get your presents in before then so we can Stuff The Bus!!
