A note from Damien
Kia ora Koutou, welcome to this week's edition of The Pipeline.
As we have now passed the deadline for any considerations we have begun the process of creating classes for 2021. As with last year, and to reduce the negatives of transitions between classes, we have again planned opportunities for our Mounties to find out which class they are in next year, who their classmates are and who their teacher is ahead of our year finishing up. We have multiple opportunities for our students to meet with next year's teacher and class as part of the learning in the last couple of weeks of school. As I mentioned last edition, we have always talked about friends to be in next year's class with, this has caused issues sometimes as friends are not always good learning together and sometimes need to be separated for their own good (this is not always the case). This year we are talking about learning buddies rather than friends, this gives a more clear focus on what/who is best for their learning rather than just a social connection. I am confident this will work as well as it has in the past but is also clearer in our intent.
The other thing I'd like to mention which is common at this time of the year is parent comments on teachers at our school. It is natural for parents to ask around about teachers they may not know well and for parents to share opinions. Please know that we are aware of the learning needs and styles of our Mounties and that we have a diverse range of teachers here who do a great job of catering for our Mounties. Please be mindful of remaining open to our knowledge about which teacher is best for each of our Mounties. We are fortunate to have a great and diverse bunch of teachers here and have many great options for creating classes for 2021.
We are using Hero as our primary means of communication and can get analytics on the % uptake of this, who and how many parents are opening messages etc. We have been having conversations with some parents and have become aware that not every parent is having success at accessing and using HERO. If you are not, or you know people who are not, please ask them to contact the school so we can help out, HERO is really important as we not only communicate through HERO but also share learning through progressions and learning stories.
Thanks for your ongoing support, I've been involved in a couple of conversations with our staff who have had parents do something nice for them, it has made their day! (This is not a call out to everyone else to do this, just an acknowledgement of how much it means to our team).
Keep smiling, not long to go till holidays!

We are so excited to have Bartletts offer swimming lessons after school in our pool for the benefit and convenience of our families and community.
This has been made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors who have enabled us to invest in a heat pump and thermal cover. We will be heating the pool to a comfortable 32 degrees which will make swimming lessons at school so much more enjoyable for students and trainers.
Assessments were held in the school pool yesterday afternoon exclusively for Mount families and then on Friday assessments will be held for the wider community 3:15 to 5pm. Administration staff will be at these assessments so you will be able to enroll on the spot.
Email Bartlett Swim School at email@example.com to register.
Bartletts will share their profits and help us maintain the pool so this is a great way to help ensure our school pool continues to exist and enable our children to gain water safety and skills.
If you or your family business would like to donate towards the remainder of the project (sandblast and repaint of the pool) please get in touch with Damien (email firstname.lastname@example.org). There is still space to advertise your business on the sponsors' board which will be going on display near the pool soon.
The next Board meeting will be in the staffroom on Thursday 26th November at 6:00pm

Calendar Art is in the process of being distributed through your teachers. The PTA would like to say a big thanks to everyone who ordered these fantastic keepsakes of your child’s artwork. We raised over $4000 and all of this money will go back into the school to directly benefit our Mounties.
We have noticed a small number of issues with production of calendars being bound incorrectly, so can we please ask you to check your calendars and advise the office if there is any issue to give us time to contact the manufacturer and arrange reprinting.
Pre-loved Mountie Hats or House T Shirts
The PTA would love to see any pre-loved Mountie hats and House t-shirts donated to the box in the office. Help us to pay it forward to our Mounties who are in need of a hat or house t. We will wash and restore!

It’s that time of the year for our big Term 4 House Competition. As we look to develop and shape Mounties at our school one of the things we support is giving to others. We know that our Mounties live in a great community and are well supported with the things they need in their lives, this is not the case for all young people in Tauranga.
Our House Captains will decorate boxes (in house colours) to collect wrapped presents for local charities to give out through the MORE FM “Stuff The Bus” competition. These boxes will be placed in the office foyer area.
These need to be wrapped and labelled with the age and gender the present is suitable for.
As this is a giving challenge our school encourages Mounties to use their pocket money or do jobs to use money that they have earned (rather than just being given money to buy this) to get a present to give. It doesn’t have to be brand new, big or expensive but rather a gift they (each child(ren) want to give to someone else to help make this time of year special for them.
10 House Points per present will be given out at the end of this competition. We’ll also look for larger gifts for bonus points oo.
Competition finishes Friday the 4th of December at 2pm when the bus will be at Mount Primary so get your presents in before then so we can Stuff The Bus!!

Keep collecting your Yummy Stickers and send them to Mrs Styles in Room 12. We only have this term left to collect them before they are sent away and counted. Remember the more we collect, the more PE equipment we will receive for our school.
Happy crunching and munching!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the Scholastic Book Club orders this year. This is just some of the books we were able to purchase for our school library with the rewards received.
