A note from Damien
Kia ora Mounties, wow, we've almost made it to the end of what has been a very unusual year. As Covid still batters the world it is quite surreal to be here together living what is pretty much a normal life. Those of you with friends and family overseas will know it is not like that elsewhere.
This week our Mounties found out which room they are in next year, who their teacher is and who their classmates will be. As I have mentioned before, our team work extremely hard to create classes and consider the many diverse needs of our Mounties, please support us by encouraging each of our kids to make the most of the opportunities they will get in their class next year. As always we are open to a conversation if you have major concerns but will only do so after the first 6 weeks of term one as that will allow our teachers, kids and classes an opportunity to settle, connect and get learning.
I'd like to thank a few people who have supported us this year on our journey. Firstly to our Board of Trustees a group of committed governors who meet regularly and represent our community at a governance level - Thank You! Thank you for your support, your wisdom, your questions and your passion for our school and our Mounties. Your commitment is muchly appreciated by me and the rest of the team here.
To our PTA, a small but committed group of parents who have 2 key goals each year. Raise funds to support our school and provide things that we wouldn't normally be able to, and build our community through events. They do an amazing job and have a heap of fun along the way too. It's our PTA who put on our Xmas in the Park event which is an annual highlight for our community.
To our Team here at school, our teaching and support staff, from me a massive Thanks for your commitment to achieving our vision of World Class Education in The Mount. Our Mounties are fortunate to have such a talented, diverse and passionate team to work and learn around. Please rest well over the next few weeks, it's been another big year and you all deserve some family time, and time to recharge.
To you all, our community, thanks for your support throughout this year, from adhering to the changing alert level requirements to supporting our learners in class, at home with learning and to those who have partnered with us this year on our property projects like our swimming pool enhancement and our courts upgrade earlier in the year. Our school is fortunate to have the support of such an amazing community.
Please take some time over the next few weeks to put down devices (yours and your childrens) to connect, to spend time, make and share memories and to enjoy the best of the next few weeks together. Stay safe and we'll see you all back for Learning Partnership Meetings on the 2nd of February.
Have an awesome and safe break.

As a Board we’ve had some really exciting discussions this year about the vision we have for the school but needless to say, 2020 has been a difficult year and as a school we will continue to be challenged by factors which are likely to impact our income. However, we are so encouraged to see our community get behind us this year and support the school whether it’s by volunteering, sponsoring, supporting PTA events or paying school donations. We have parents who are willing to help in class and coach, a very dedicated PTA who have organised some outstanding fundraising events this year and our business community has enabled our students to get more out of their swimming sessions by sponsoring a new heat pump and thermal cover for the school pool. This year we increased the suggested school donation amount slightly and yet nearly 70% of our families paid which is a significant increase compared to previous years. Our vision for the school is very much determined by the backing and support we get from our community so, whether you’ve offered your time or money this year, on behalf of the Board thank you for making the investment in our students and their education here at Mount Primary.
Wishing you all a merry Christmas, fun and safe holidays and happy 2021.
The next Board meeting will be in the staffroom tonight - Thursday 26th November at 6:00pm
