Happy December! In lieu of our regular meeting, please join us at Jersey's Great Food and Spirits at 1306 N 175th St. on December 14 at 7pm.  We look forward to visiting with friends and neighbors, new and old.

Solstice Stroll, December 8 and 9, 4:30 – 8:30 pm
Kruckeberg Botanic Garden, 20312 15th Avenue W
Winter is beautiful at night, come see the garden aglow with twinkling lights. Suggested donation: $10. For this event, the garden will be closed during normal hours for this weekend only. Parking is offsite at the Richmond Beach Congregational Church down the street from the garden at 15th Ave NW and Richmond Beach Road, with free shuttle provided.
 
Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, December 9, seatings at 9 and 10:45 am
Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center, 18560 1st Avenue NE
The holidays start here!  Enjoy a full breakfast, games, entertainment, a gift bag and a photo with Santa.  Breakfast is by reservation only: 206-801-2600.  This seasonal event is sponsored by the City of Shoreline. 
 
Tween Night, November 9, 6:30 – 10:30 pm
Richmond Highlands Recreation Center, 16554 Fremont Avenue N
5th and 6th Graders, this is your night to kick it with your friends without younger sibs or older kids. Parents, this program offers a safe and fun places for Tweens to hang out with friends on a Saturday night. There will be fun games, activities, crafts, music, and food! And it’s free! Wisdom Café: Learning Across the Generations, December 10, 2 – 3:30 pm

It's easy to have judgments about the other generations, whether they are Boomers, Gen X or Millennials. What prevents or enables us to learn from each other; offering, listening and accepting the wisdom of our elders and our children? Join us for a group discussion.  Registration required.
 
Around the Sound Band Winter Concert, December 10, 3 – 4 pm

The Around the Sound Community Band is a Shoreline treasure, providing service through music.  Join them for a festive performance on seasonal selections.
 
Wisdom Café: Moving Toward Interdependence, December 12, 2-3:30 pm

Most Americans are steeped in the importance of being independent. Yet we know that from birth to death, we have different levels of independence. What kind of independence do you have or want? What would interdependence look like?  Registration required.
 
Park Concept Designs Public Open House, December 13, 7:30 pm

Argosy Christmas Ship Visit, December 13, 7:30 – 9:00 pm

Treat yourself to a festive evening of outdoor celebration along Shoreline's spectacular beachfront. Listen to local school choirs sing while waiting for the Argosy Christmas Ship to arrive. Enjoy simple refreshments and stay warm near the beach bonfire. 
 
Middle School Night, December 16, 7:00 – 11:30 pm

Calling all 7th and 8th Graders! Aged out of Tween Night but still looking for something fun to do on the weekend? This is your night to hang out with friends in a familiar setting. Parents, this program offers a safe and fun place for your teens to hang out with friends on a Saturday night. There will be fun games, activities, crafts, music, and food! And it's free! Winter Tales on Cold Nights, December 19, 10:30-11:30 am

From Shore to Shore and Line to Line, a collection of historical winter vignettes with historic photos from Shoreline neighborhoods, Lake Forest Park and North Seattle, presented by Vicki Stiles, Director of the Shoreline Historical Museum.
 
Celebrate Winter Solstice with Cascade Brass, December 21, 7 – 8:30 pm
Shoreline Library, 345 NE 175th Street
Celebrate the Winter Solstice with a concert by our local Cascade Brass Quintet. The group consists of two trumpets, a French horn, a trombone and a tuba. They will play winter music such as Over the River, Let it Snow and Sleigh Ride, as well as Hanukkah music and Christmas Music. Take a break from the holiday rush and join us!
 
A Tale of Two Bad Mice Puppet Show, December 27, 1 – 1:45 pm
Shoreline Library, 345 NE 175th Street
Presented by Thistle Theatre, this family program welcomes all ages. Young Beatrix Potter re-enacts the day the mice Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca came to be called, "two bad mice". Be enchanted by their antics and outrageous behavior! Space is limited. First come, first seated.
 
Block Party: 35 Piece LEGO Challenge, December 28, 11 am – 12 pm, and 1 – 2 pm
Shoreline Library, 345 NE 175th Street
Calling all builders ages 6 and older: what is the coolest creation you can make out of 35 LEGO pieces? Come to the library and show us what you can build with one of our Cool Creation kits! We have a limited number of kits, so please register to attend. All LEGO will remain in the library after the program. Register online or by calling the library beginning December 14. 206-362-7550
