Pamela Goldsmith-Jones is a lifetime resident and former mayor of West Vancouver. She was elected in October as the Member of Parliament for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country and has been appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.  She is known as a bridge-builder, bringing diverse views together through her inclusive approach to the creation and implementation of public policy.  

As mayor, she prioritized conservation in West Vancouver, working on projects such as the reduction of solid waste, and the restoration of the foreshore/inter-tidal zone, for which the city was awarded the Global Green City Award at the United Nations’ Global Forum on Human Settlements. Pam was also a key component in Vancouver’s fundraising efforts for the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. Pam and her husband Geoff have been married for 31 years. They have three adult children.

New Manager, Economic Development –District of West Vancouver

The District of West Vancouver is pleased to announce that Stephen Mikicich has moved into the newly created role of Manager, Economic Development for the District of West Vancouver. In this new role, Stephen will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive economic development strategy for the District.
Part of his key duties will include building and enhancing relationships with businesses, business associations and other partners.  All of his work will be focused on maximizing the economic potential and resilience of West Vancouver.  Along with Stephen's previous experience of economic development in other municipalities, he has extensive knowledge of community planning and has strong working relationships with many different resident and community stakeholder groups.
Moving from his previous position in Planning and Development Services with the District, this new position as Manager, Economic Development will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.

West Vancouver Police Strategic Plan

West Vancouver Police have set out a new four year plan aimed at making a safe community even safer. After community and stakeholder consultation, the 2016-2019 WVPD Strategic Plan was developed and officially approved by the West Vancouver Police Board.  The plan was publicly unveiled at the Police Board meeting January 28, 2016.
The plan is a pledge by all WVPD officers and civilian staff for ongoing work to Enhance Community Safety, Promote Operational Excellence and Improve Organizational Practices.
The plan commits the department to ambitious public safety objectives, including annual reductions in violent crime, property crime and collisions resulting in injury or death.
