Thu 28th Nov - Thu 28th Nov

10:30am - 2:30pm

We are hosting an informal get-together at the Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell together with Derbyshire County Council Public Health and Derbyshire Federation for Mental Health at the end of November.

The purpose of this event is to promote the Public Health message of the Five Ways to Well-being. As you know, we administer a small grant scheme on behalf of DCC Public Health entitled the Five Ways to Well-being and we are really keen to receive more applications to the fund.

The Five Ways are: –

  •  Connect

  •  Keep Learning

  •  Take Notice

  •  Give

  •  Be Active

We hope that the event will help people learn more about the small grant scheme and what their community might do to incorporate one or more of the Five Ways into their group or activity, and hopefully put an application in!

We will be open from 10.30 for coffee and the event will start at 11.00.

There will be a table for each of the Five Ways and members of the statutory and/or voluntary sector present to tell us more about what is available in the area that fits with that particular ‘Way’.

As we will providing lunch, we would like to you to book a place, and although anyone is welcome to attend, we encourage participation from members of voluntary and community groups as the small grant scheme is intended for such organisations.

You are very welcome to stay for the whole event and move from table to table to learn about all the Five Ways, but equally if time is precious please just come along for as long as suits you.

For more information and / or to book a place please contact Sarah Paisley at DDCVS on 01629 812154.

We have a new fact-sheet which helps anyone running a charity or community group to better understand how to put together a strategy for their organisation.

The fact-sheet is set of guidelines – only 3 sides of A4 – but gives you a very good start in thinking about strategy and planning – it also shares some of the work that we do at the CVS for our own organisation.

Please download a copy here – Strategy and Planning

Do get in touch if you need further support as we provide bespoke training for trustees, staff and volunteers and can facilitate the creation of your organisation’s strategy and plan.

Wed 27th Nov - Wed 27th Nov

10:00am - 12:00pm

Have you ever thought about volunteering in your local area?

Connex Readycall Macmillan and the Home from Hospital service are having an informal ‘drop in information session’ at Bakewell ‘Costa’, Kings Street, Bakewell, on Wednesday 27th November, between 10am-12pm.

Our volunteers provide befriending and light practical support to vulnerable and isolated people in the Derbyshire Dales. ‘Befriending’ can take many forms, from visiting someone in your local area for a cuppa and a chat, to doing shopping. Time commitment can be flexible, training and out of pocket expenses are provided.

To find out more, pop in and see us on the 27th, or call us on 01629 693693.
