DDCVS is working on a new project, namely starting a Focus group.
The Focus group will
  •  discuss services which DDCVS currently provides
  •  look at how DDCVS can improve/develop CVS services
  •  look at how DDCVS can better meet the needs of Derbyshire Dales residents
  •  discuss how DDCVS can represent our members’ views effectively in our work with the local authorities and Health
  •  be a sounding board for potential new pieces of work and new projects
It is planned that the first meeting will be either on the morning or afternoon of Thursday 3rd October or Thursday 10th October.
The Focus group membership will hopefully include one or two DDCVS Trustees and 3 or 4 DDCVS members as well as some representation from our statutory sector partners.
If you are interested in taking part please contact Jonathan Simcock on 01629 812154.

Five Ways to Wellbeing
We continue to administer a small grants scheme on behalf of Derbyshire County Council, Public Health. This scheme is about increasing the understanding of the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ by people in the Derbyshire Dales who are at a higher risk of developing mental ill health.
The ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ are a recommended set of evidence-based public health messages which are aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of the population. These ‘Five Ways’ are: – Connect; Be Active; Take Notice; Keep Learning and Give.
There are guidelines to the small grants scheme which explain each of the Five Ways to Wellbeing more fully and how a project might include or address them, as well as an application form.
If you would like a copy please contact Derbyshire Dales CVS on 01629 812154 or email enquiries@ddcvs.org.uk
Or download information about the Five Ways to Wellbeing small grant scheme from our website. The next closing date for applications is Friday 29th November 2019.
Better Derbyshire Dales Fund
Many of our members will be familiar with the Better Derbyshire Dales Fund  – this small grant scheme is an amalgamation of the scheme we began administering for the Clinical Commissioning Group over 10 years ago which was later supplemented by Public Health.
It has since been further augmented by a fund from Derbyshire Dales District Council and so became the Better Derbyshire Dales Fund in 2015.
It has two strands – capital and revenue – and this means that applicants can apply for a grant to improve village halls; sports clubs and community centres – for example to pay for new windows and doors or new kitchens, etc. The  capital strand goes up to a maximum of £5,000.
The revenue strand incorporates all the health funds and the community element of the money from DDDC. The revenue strand can go up to £1,000 and can support all sorts of community activity such as community events, small community groups such as lunch clubs and youth clubs as well as any activities that have a health benefit to the Dales communities.
The next deadline for this fund is Friday 30th August 2019. However there will be another round before the end of the year – closing date for applications – Friday 8th November 2019.
For more information please contact Jonathan or Sarah at DDCVS on 01629 812154 or click this link Better Derbyshrie Dales Fund.

The ChildFair State Inquiry
Leaders Unlocked are working with Children England on an exciting new youth-led project: The ChildFair State Inquiry.
They would like to recruit a team of 25 young people to form the core leadership team, to design and deliver the research project.
The young people (13-21 years old) will:

• Give other children and young people a voice
• Explore their own and others’ experiences of public services
• Work with a panel of experts to create proposals for change that are as rigorous as possible and as radical as necessary
• Become, if they choose, active campaigners for the vision they create
Leaders Unlocked are very keen to make sure the project involves young people from different backgrounds and a wide range of life experiences and would like to hear from young people who have been affected by different issues and challenges – including (but not limited to) the following:

  •  poverty
  •  experience of hospital stays
  •  being a carer
  •  living in different forms of housing
