Last Wednesday, AJCU's member in Belize, St. John's College, was among the facilities to be struck by Hurricane Lisa. There is significant damage caused by flooding (as seen here), from collapsed roofs to destroyed computers and electrical infrastructure. St. John's president, Mirtha Alicia "Alice" Peralta, wrote, "We currently serve 2,000 students and 144 faculty and staff, 700 hundred boys at our high school, and 1,200 students at our Junior College, many of whom were also severely impacted by the passage of Hurricane Lisa."
The Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province (UCS) is currently accepting contributions in support of St. John's. Click here to make a donation online, where you can designate it toward St. John's College in Belize.
