China will have a more profound impact on the future climate than the US because the country is adopting a much more long-term view and has the capacity to plan on a longer-term basis. 

China’s middle class grows increasingly vocal in awareness of the dangers of pollution. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang pledged to make the country’s smoggy skies blue again and “work faster” to address pollution caused by the burning of coal for heat and electricity.

The idea behind the catchy "airport" project is actually to create a giant nature reserve in Tianjin. The proposed Bird Airport will be a globally significant sanctuary for endangered migratory bird species. They will use the oasis for a stopover, before they continue their journey.
