"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew 16:25

How ya’ll doin?  As we begin writing this from Kentucky, we thought we throw in some southern accent verbiage.  We done have enjoyed ourselves and thank the Lord for the special time here in Can-tucky! We have received a very "warm" Southern reception, both with warm hearts and warm temperature.

A Look into our Lives

         Before A New Chapter Begins

For the next several months, we will be in a transition phase as we prepare for our next assignment.  Last month we shared about several serious life events in our shedule:

            Events Snapshots:

May's Surprise Visit:  Almost one year later, we surprised our grandchildren in Kentucky.  This was our warm Southern reception.

We have had so much fun celebrating Micah's 1st year birthday in a very tiny space.  We invite you to watch Lego's & Rainbows, a very responsive one year old and hope it brings a smile to your face.

(Warning: it is adorable - in our opinion)  We would enjoy hearing from you if you have had the same type of experience.

Monday Night Bible Study (click)
Psalm 23 was a fun Bible Study to add activities.  The girls enjoy reading Bible verses and this is a favorite chapter of theirs.  The first activity was to emphasize how personal this Psalm is.  They were to raise their hand every time they said I, me, or my.  See if you can count the number of times you hear m' and mwen for I, me, and my.

            Current Status

We wanted to give you a current status on how things are looking for our future direction.  There have been a lot of people asking us questions regarding what our future looks like and if we have any further details we can share?  While it's still too early to share all of the details, we can say this past month we have been in regular contact with the organization we hope to work with and a number of important details have been communicated from both sides.  We do feel very good about all the discussion and have an optimistic outlook for a future place to serve.  Sorry, we can't be a bit more revealing, but it's better to not get ahead of ourselves.  Hopefully in the near future we'll have more to share!  We do want to ask you to continue to pray that the Lord would give us discernment and wisdom while working through this process.  Your prayers are very important to us!!  Thank you!

            The Anomalies of Kingdom Living

Sprinkled throughout scripture are some very powerful instructions on what our lives should look like as Christians.  These anomalies are often overlooked and lost in the daily activities of life.  We truly believe we should look and act different as believers.  Your actions, and behavior should reflect a culture, but it should be a biblical culture, not the societal culture of America.  The church seems to get “caught up” in the every day American culture, and looses sight of the unique, peculiar, set apart mentality that scripture describes.

First let’s define what an anomaly is.  According to, it’s “Something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected.”  This should not really be surprising as we have already stated that these anomalies have been overlooked or replaced with much more “normal” or traditional thoughts or actions.  Here are four biblical concepts that should be reflected in your daily faith journey:
  • Matthew 16:25  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
  •  2 Corinthians 12:9  And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
  • Proverbs 11:24  There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
  • Mark 9:35  And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
Each one of these verses lay out a biblical concept that reflects the heart of God.  They go against traditional thinking, and in many cases, would be considered “backwards” to what is now typical.  Yet they are so vital to living a god-glorifying life, and an absolute necessity as we learn to live lives that are filled with salt and light. We are reminded in Matthew 5:13-16  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The more we conform to popular thinking and culture, the more our salt loses its savor, and the less our lights will shine.  May we encourage you to lose your life to find it, be a servant leader, learn to allow His strength to work through your weaknesses, and scatter your resources abundantly.  That’s the key to kingdom living!!
