            VISA Process:

A list of necessary items for the Visa process are as follows to give you an idea of what we have been up to in preparation for travel and serving in Israel.

  1. Renew our Passports (We recently recieved these)
  2. Apostille certified FBI Criminal Record Check (Completed)
  3. A recent physical exam and a letter from the Dr. stating we are in sound health
  4. HIV Test
  5. Letter of Invitation from Israel organization
  6. Application for Volunteer Visa

This process is very time sensitive, so we are trying to coordinate all this together.  Once we have finished our physical exams, by the end of July, we'll start to fill out and send the actual Visa application forms to the proper places in Israel.  We do covet your prayers as we take one step at a time through this process!!  Thank you!

            Dining Hall

Just prior to our departure from Haiti, we were wrapping up the completion of a new dining hall at the Consolation Center of Haiti (CCH).  We are so grateful to God for raising up willing partners who helped to sponsor this project.  Thanks especially to a very generous gift from one church from Iowa who has a Turkey Missions Dinner every year around Thanksgiving.  Laborers With Christ (LWC) was able to use those funds to “ratchet up” the pace of construction, wiring, and painting the building, as well as tiling the floor and installing the doors and louvre windows.  There was additional money to purchase kitchen appliances, a stainless-steel sink and help with the construction of kitchen counters and cupboards.  Some of the final details carried over to completion after we left, so we wanted to send out a few pictures sharing the final appearance.

On behalf of CCH, we did want to express gratitude and appreciation to all involved for such a beautiful facility.  This dining hall is second-to-none in its functionality and will continue to expand with future hopes and expectations as the kitchen gets to a full level of operation.

            Are You on Cruise Control?

One of more popular and well-known verses in the book of Proverbs comes from the third chapter.  Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  This passage is full of admonishment to all of us on how we should seek guidance and direction.  Unfortunately, we can be prone to sit back and be passive in our direction seeking.  This thought brings to mind a recent news story that highlights that very thing.  Multiple news sources reported that due to some sort of glitch in Google Maps, approximately 100 cars ended up on a muddy, unpaved road as a “shortcut” to avoid a busy main road in the Denver area. In spite of what the drivers were seeing outside the front windshield, they continued to listen to the friendly electronic voice that was giving them directions.  One of the drivers is quoted saying, ”It’s not always best to rely on technology. And it’s OK to wait.”  You can read the story in its entirety if you click Shortcut.

This does cause one to think.  How are you doing with your on-board navigation with the Lord?  Have you “defaulted” to a passive cruise control mentality where you are content to “drive” with very little divine guidance and direction?  Do you day after day get in a cruise control scenario because of leaning on your own understanding?  This passage has such a powerful promise from the Lord.  If we trust and acknowledge and limit leaning in our own capability…He will direct us!!  In His graciousness and goodness, He will be the true on-board navigator.  No more “muddy roads” or questionable “shortcuts”, but rather divine direction and a contentment that He will take care of you.

(Warning: while He will direct you, that’s not to say it will be places that are comfortable to you.  You may find yourself doing things and going places out of your comfort zone.  However, He is there with you, and in control!!)
