"And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us." Luke 2:15
In the little town of Bethlehem so long ago, the heavenly angels visited the shepherds who shepherded a special kind of sheep. Those sheep were designated for sacrifice at the Temple in Jerusalem who were kept all year round two miles east of Bethlehem in a place called the “Place of the Night Watch.” In the night, baby Jesus was born and the Lord God chose the shepherds who took care of the Temple sheep to see the baby Jesus that first night. This was a foreshadowing many years later, when Jesus was taken at night to the temple as a lamb to the slaughter.
Jesus, the sacrifice lamb, was a gift to all mankind. We hope you have enjoyed celebrating this special gift.
