Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
Proverbs 17:6

Rejoice with us!

We are so grateful to God for His goodness and the amazing gift of new life!

We are very thankful for the opportunity to see, hold, hear, and love on Micah.

A Look into our Lives

          Micah Lee

Original plans bumped up a week when we heard Rachelle had felt the baby "drop".  We wasted no time rearranging our schedule and headed to Kentucky.  We didn't want to miss a beat to help with the arrival of baby, Micah Lee.

May 25th two days after the due date, Rachelle and Nathaniel went to the store to do last minute shopping.  The walking propelled Rachelle into intense labor action quickly.

Seven hours later Micah Lee was born at 10:34 pm weighing 6 lbs. 8 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long! Micah is easy going and laid back, just what Rachelle needs with such an active household. We can't get over Micah's blond hair.

            RV Friends

Every day we have been truly thankful for the amazing gift that the Lord God provided for us as we travel across the country visiting Nathanial and Rachelle and our grandchildren, Isaiah, Lilia, and Hadassah.  This gift is from some dear friends who have loaned us their Class C Motor Home!  It has been a huge blessing!!

Consolation Center of Haiti (CCH) Update

          Functional Crop Production Additions

Last month we talked about proper timing of planting seeds and taking advantage of the friendly milder climate to increase our farm's production.  However, when we are in more of a dryer/hotter season, we have added a couple of additions to help with crop production. We talked about this in last month's YouTube video, but for those who didn’t click on the video to view it last month, we wanted to share a couple of pictures.  You can also click to watch the YouTube video here.

Just before we left Haiti, we were able to complete the addition to the plant nursery or shade-house. This building functions as a place to start seeds to be transplanted later.  The benefit of this is reduced sunlight, protection from birds and animals, and a protected climate for young plants.

The second addition is greater accessibility to water faucets throughout the designated vegetable garden area.  Over 750 feet of PVC was buried into the ground to provide for conveniently placed water faucets.  Agriculture is a very popular Professional School class.  With over 30 students, giving them access to a reliable water source is huge.  Often, they would carry water for long distances as the rains were not always dependable. Now they can walk to a nearby faucets to get water.

Nigeria Update

          Nigeria Update

Pray for Nigeria!  We recently received an email from The Voice of the Martyrs.  Unfortunately, all too often they are focusing on Nigeria as a place of extreme Christian persecution. This latest email, they shared an article we thought was important to pass long.  The article was titled, Pray for the Christians in Nigeria, and it shared the following:

“Here are five ways you can pray in the coming weeks for Christians in Nigeria:

          1.    Pray for Christians in northern Nigeria who boldly stand for Christ even as Boko Haram seeks to destroy the church and create a caliphate. (chief Muslim ruler)

          2.    Pray that the families of those killed for their faith will experience God’s healing presence as they continue to be Christ’s ambassadors in this hostile region.

          3.    Pray that Christians will openly proclaim the gospel, resulting in the salvation of many Boko Haram militants and Fulani Muslims.

          4.    Pray that evangelists will be encouraged and strengthened in the Lord as they share Christ in difficult and
dangerous places.

          5.    Pray for the perseverance of Christians under continual threat of violence.

As you may remember, we served in Nigeria for over six years, and still have an active faith-based community development program implemented in Nigeria.  The Nigerian nationals are doing a great job sharing the gospel through educational classes on agriculture and nutrition using faith-based materials.

We would appreciate your prayers for Nigeria, as we have so many friends living in this persecution-oriented environment.

One Starfish at a Time

           Kendios Excellome:

We last shared about Kendios in December of 2016.  A lot has happened in the past 17 months.  Over the duration of time that he has lived at the Joshua House (JH), we have seen a wonderful transformation in his life.

Laborers With Christ wanted to encourage him with his future endeavors as he is now attending theology training.  Back in 2016, a Bible was presented to him when he was attending a Bible Study class that Catherine was leading for the older boys and girls. Since he is pursuing schooling to be a Pastor, we wanted to help him with a French Thompson Chain Study Bible.  These are a rare commodity and help so much in the theology training.  His excitement was obvious as we shared the desire to give him a study Bible.

This is a neat blessing for us as we often share young faces when we spotlight boys and girls who are our “starfish”.  Their future's are to be determined over the next 10 -15 years.  To see the other end of the spectrum and see the spiritual growth and a determination to follow Jesus Christ with a future goal in site is very rewarding.  We know many hands are involved at CCH to help Kendios and make his desire a reality. For example, the Rasmussen’s are very excited, as well, as they have helped with encouragement and transportation needs to take Kendios to his theology classes.

Please pray for him as he pursues his dreams and passion for Jesus Christ.
