January 2023

A Word From Our Director General

Kurt Edwards

Happy New Year!  I hope you enjoyed warm holiday celebrations with family and friends.

We launched 2023 by welcoming Capt. Claude Hurley as IBAC’s new Director for Environment and Flight Operations.  Claude is the former Representative to the ICAO Council from Canada and Air Navigation Commissioner nominated by Canada.  He brings regulatory experience from his time at Transport Canada and operational experience as a rotorcraft pilot flying assignments around the world.  His background and diplomatic skills are the right combination for addressing important environmental and operational matters facing business aviation on ICAO’s agenda.  We are honored to have Claude on the IBAC team, and I encourage you to join me in welcoming him.

We are still looking for your meaningful input on our thought-leadership platform.  We have heard from a few of you and would welcome additional input by completing this brief SURVEY.  Please take some time and let us know what subject matter you recommend we share with the global business aviation community.

Please stay tuned for the new IBAC Crew Card.  We are making several enhancements to build on its success.  In the meantime, we are not producing Crew Cards as we change to the updated version.  Look for it in the coming weeks.

  • The joint (IS-BAO/IS-BAH) APM (9th edition) was completed and published 03rd January.  It is available to download through the relevant programme portal.
  • The IS-BAH Programme Director took part in a regional ground handling workshop hosted by the ICAO MID region in Rabat, early December.  The IS-BAH Programme was presented to a number of regulators who attended, and there is optimism this will lead to further opportunities across the regions for both programmes.
  • The first IS-BAH workshops for the year are scheduled for the week of 13 February and are now open for bookings with places filling fast
