Friends of Starkweather Creek

 - Fall Preview -

Welcome to everyone that we met at events this summer! We're looking forward to a fun and productive fall.

Please mark your calendars for our Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 7th at the Goodman Community Center's Brassworks building. Come meet your neighbors, watch a presentation about what we did this year, what's new on the creek (including NEW access points), elect new board members, and talk to us about your ideas.

The event is also a social gathering, with snacks and a chance to meet other people who care about the creek. We're stronger together, so we hope you can come! Children welcome.

We have lots of other EXCITING events coming up so please read on...

How do we help the creek?

A bit about what we do
  • Advocate for the creek with city and county officials
  • Lead free canoe, bike, and walking tours all year long
  • Work with Goodman Community Center and Madison Friends of Urban Nature (FUN) to get people out on the creek
  • Volunteer as creek water quality monitors for the Wisconsin DNR
  • Provide a place for community members to share their concerns and plan projects around the creek
  • Work with experts on projects to promote a healthy creek ecosystem
  • Work to keep creek navigable using low-impact techniques
  • Share news about the creek via our regular email newsletter, the Trickle

Feel free to join us at our monthly board meetings and learn more about us and our activities, or share your ideas. All are welcome. We meet at the Goodman Community Center, Ironworks building mezzanine, from 7-9 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.
