The latest Millennium Films' project Hitman’s Bodyguard turned Sofia city into an exciting filming location this month. After shooting in London, the crew, led by The Expendables III helmer Patrick Hughes, came to Bulgaria to continue production on the movie. Starring in the project are Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds, Gary Oldman and Salma Hayek. This is a first visit to the country for another star of the movie - Samuel L. Recently Worldwide FX team dived in the deep end for a Belarusbank commercial featuring the Olympic silver medalist Aleksandra Gerasimenya. In the Evolution VFX Breakdown you can see how they provided the famous swimmer with a stunning futuristic swimsuit that made her faster than ever.

Nu Boyana's in-house production company B2Y shot the new music video for Dutch electro house DJ and producer MOTi. The song "Turn me up" is featuring Nabiha and promises to become one of the most popular tracks of summer 2016.

A mental institution was created inside Nu Boyana's administrative building to suit the atmosphere of upcoming American horror Leatherface. Those same corridors were used a couple of years ago for some scenes in Stonehearst Asylum (2014), starring Michael Caine, Sir Ben Kingsley and Kate Beckinsale.

  • Delegation from the “First festival of Italian cinema – David di Donatello Awards” in Bulgaria visited Nu Boyana this month. They were given a warm welcome by the Studios’ CEO Yariv Lerner who expressed his vision for Nu Boyana: “What we want to achieve here is to be a service company that helps moviemakers tell their stories. It doesn’t matter to us if it is big or small budget. What is important is if someone is passionate about their story.”
  • The biggest price for the Junior Achievement Awards "Rising Stars" 2016 was given to the students from LEA and their project Knigosvet. Nu Boyana Film Studios CEO Yariv Lerner and B2Y co-founder Alexander Kenanov gave 10 000 euro in production value to create the first video presentation for the young entrepreneurs.  
  • Producers in the making started their education at our film school. Nu Boyana’s CEO Yariv Lerner introduced the first ever pre-production course in Bulgaria that will cover budgeting and scheduling a film project. Mentors and lecturers will be some of the best professionals in Bulgaria with extensive background experience in the movie business - so far UPM's Vesselin Karadjov, Valentin Dimitrov, Peter Mechkoff and Alexander Peytchev, Production Designer Antonello Rubino, Location manager Atanas Vulev, Assistant director Dian Hristov, Nu Boyana Head of finance Kalina Kottas and soon Millennium Films Head of Production John Thompson. The students will have exclusive set visits as part of their learning experience.
