Artist-in-Residence with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust

Slain by sciatica since my March newsletter, my usual outdoor work has been rather scuppered so I'm experimenting in the studio with some gorgeous oil paints from British company Wallace Seymour. I mostly build my oil paintings up slowly, layer on layer, waiting for each to dry before applying the next. This woodland scene is half way to the finishing line!

Lady Park Wood at Monmouth Museum

The Arborealists are showing further works in response to Lady Park Wood, a very special ancient wood in the Wye Valley.  Left unmanaged for 75 years, it has been studied and recorded for decades by renowned woodland ecologist, George Peterken. The exhibition continues until the end of the year, including a commissioned film about our project.

Wildflower Meadow Project

I'm working with Marion Laws at the Apple Store Gallery and Herefordshire Wildlife Trust  on a project about wildflower meadows, with special reference to Birches Farm reserve owned by the Trust. We've invited twelve visual artists and four poets to participate, enjoying a glorious day together at Birches Farm and a tour from Bob North to get us off to a good start.
