From Julie

Have a wonderful spring holiday!

We can't believe it's already the end of Term 3! Thank you for a busy and successful term!

The September holidays mark Brisbane Birralee Voices' next tour, and they are getting excited to head to New South Wales next week.

Around 50 choristers will perform in
Murwillumbah, Mullumbimby and Hastings Point, en route to the Bellingen Music Festival! More information about the tour is included in our Facebook event page. If you have any friends or relatives in these towns, we encourage you to share this event page with them. It would be great to see lots of people from the local communities support us at these concerts.

In other news, Saturday's Poppies in Spring Trivia night has SOLD OUT! A huge thanks to everyone who has bought tickets! If you've missed out you can take part in another way. We currently have a silent auction running on Facebook, where you can bid for some amazing prizes! It runs until 12noon Friday! Read on for more information and either bid via Facebook or email us.

Another highlight this month was the debut of our Birralee Recycled ensemble at Sunday's The Young & The Recycled Concert with the Birralee Blokes and Brisbane Birralee Voices. The Birralee Recycled project has been very well received and we're delighted to share some of the comments from choristers in this newsletter.

All the best for a safe and happy holiday! We look forward to seeing you next term!

Until next time,

The Young & The Recycled concert wrap!

Sunday's The Young & The Recycled was a fantastic concert, debuting our 'older-give-it-a-go' choir', Birralee Recycled, sending off our Brisbane Birralee Voices for their New South Wales trip next week, while featuring the Birralee Blokes.

The Birralee Recycled choristers loved their six-week rehearsal experience and shared some lovely comments noting their appreciation for the opportunity to take part in the project and for the direction from their conductor, Peter Ingram.

“It was a total Buzz. I look forward to 2017!”

"It was a great experience being in an ensemble with you as the conductor. Thank you for your patience with my wrong notes and sometimes inane questions and for your good humour and support for all of us. Such joy to be singing! Thanks.”

"Many thanks Peter.  A sincere thank you to you for your time and expertise; six very enjoyable, engaging and informative rehearsals and a wonderful premiere performance! I hope to have the pleasure of being conducted by you again.

"It was just so much fun. We all appreciated your enthusiasm, expertise (and PATIENCE!!). Thanks so much for your time.

"Thank you for a fantastic experience Peter. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Your enthusiasm was infectious!”

"Thank you Peter for your time and efforts with the Recycled choir over these last six weeks and then for our performance last night. I have no previous musical or singing experience and initially found it very difficult to keep up with the more experienced members of the choir. With much trepidation, I think I was almost able to hold my own in the performance due to your guidance during our rehearsals which were always great fun and enjoyable with your very entertaining style.”

"Many thanks for your continual encouragement and expertise! I haven’t had to sing since I was about 10 years old...and found this experience extremely enjoyable, even though I do not have a strong voice. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to be on the other side of the stage!”

"To everyone who played a part in organising Birralee Recycled, thank you!! It was a great experience. Challenging but fulfilling. I really enjoyed it and I got a lot out of it.”

"As my first choir experience since primary school, I really enjoyed it. A lot of that was down to the tone of fun, pace and enthusiasm that you brought (alongside your technical advice). It's sparked a refreshed enthusiasm to sing more."

Congratulations to Peter Ingram and the Birralee Recycled choristers. We look forward to relaunching the project in 2017!
