"Our human compassion binds us the one to the other – not in pity or patronizing, but as human beings who have learned how to turn our common suffering into hope for the future."
-Nelson Mandela

Does your institution hold unprocessed archival papers, at-risk image collections in need of digitization, or other historical records in need of preservation? The Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB) has funding opportunities and has now extended the deadline in light of recent events.

The optional draft deadline is May 1, 2020. Applications are now due June 4, 2020. The Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board recognizes that this is a trying time for everyone. We know that many of us are now working from home, with limited access to collections and even some looming uncertainty about the future of our institutions. With this in mind, the USHRAB will be extending the deadline for our spring grant round.

We hope that the extra month gives all of us the chance to settle into our new normal, negotiate any collections access necessary to craft your proposals, and gives you the opportunity to put thoughtful consideration to how your potential projects may or may not need to change in light of the challenges presented to us by COVID-19.  Please bear in mind that the allotted time frame for projects remains unchanged: work cannot begin earlier than July 15, 2020, and must be complete by June 26, 2021.

Highlight of The Month:

Plan B-Theatre for The Audacity.

  • Plan B Theatre didn't let the state of the world stop them from filming a one-woman show (with less than 7 people in the building) and streaming it live.

  • Museums all over the world are offering virtual tours of their exhibits. The doors may be closed to a lot of places but our minds are still open. Do you have something to share? we want to see it!

  • Email us what you want to showcase in your museum and we will choose a highlight every month to let people know what our local museums are working on for the public!
  • THE AUDACITY is a play about women who had the audacity to fight for themselves – in and at times against, a culture of patriarchy.
  • Streaming any time April 1-5 Free to the public.

Take a breather and enjoy the show!
