Christmas Blessing Boxes
The people on our Human Care team have a love and passion for ministering to those in need of a companion or friend – people who are seniors, homebound, widowed, or going through difficult times. This month we delivered Christmas Blessing Boxes to 51 people. We used a Thrivent card to purchase gift boxes and goodies. Children and grandchildren of Messiah members beautifully and uniquely decorated each box, giving them their own special touch. We then filled the boxes with home-baked cookies, Chex mix, holiday masks, word puzzles, and more, all donated by Messiah friends and family.

The children who helped decorate the boxes: Hoskins, Buethes, Fannings and Carters; Faye Darling for her Chex Mix; Donna Redinbaugh's Cookie Team; Human Care Team members Linda Buckley, Kathy Carter, Faye Darling, Nancy Elswick, and Dennis Francis, for delivering boxes; Liz Patton for applying for the $250 Thrivent Action Team card that we used to purchase the gift boxes and goodies.

Visit our new café, just down the hall from the sanctuary
Our cafe features Rock-N-Joe coffee and artisan drinks, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches for sale. The café is open Sundays 7:30a-noon and weekdays 7:30a-9:30a. Stop by and enjoy a beverage and snack before or after worship, on your way to work, or after dropping the kids off at school. Our regular free coffee and donuts will resume in the near future.

Here's a great way to serve just a few hours per year, right here at Messiah!
Altar Care consists of communion setup and cleanup, filling the candles, and general tidying up of the altar area. Volunteers work together in pairs or groups, and the team needs 8-10 more people to fill the schedule. Contact Diane 402.430.4700 or Doneta 402.489.5103 for more information and the actual duties.

You can bless our Messiah family by sponsoring Sunday altar flowers for the sanctuary throughout the year. The cost is $21, and you may keep the flowers afterwards, or Faye Darling can deliver them to shut-ins. You may dedicate the flowers in celebration of or in memory of a special person or event.
