How the Lincoln mask mandate affects ministry at Messiah.
On Monday, the Executive Team met and discussed the Lincoln mask mandate. When you peel away the exceptions, it basically says that those ages 5 and older are required to wear masks in a building that is open to the public unless six feet of separation can be maintained at all times.
As we look at our in-person worship services at Messiah, we feel that we really only need to make a minor adjustment in what we have already been doing in order to be in compliance with this mandate.
Until further notice, we ask that everyone attending an in-person worship service, including both our 8 and 11 morning services and any other service (confirmation, etc.) would wear a mask from the time they exit their vehicles until they are seated in a pew. Once seated, the six feet of separation can be maintained throughout the service. At the end of the service, we ask that people put their masks on before leaving the pew. When outside, your masks may be removed.
In the past weeks we've had some people remaining in the Great Hall to visit after our worship services. If you choose to do this, please wear your masks or maintain a distance of 6 feet at all times.
