Dear OxGrowers

The garden is looking lush! Most of the beds now have something growing in them and if all goes well, soon we'll have a good crop of onions, garlic, carrots, broad beans, spinach, tomatoes, pumpkins and more!

This Sunday we are meeting at 12.00 noon for a discussion about where OxGrow is now and where it might be heading, to hear what new groups we might reach out to and what new exciting events might happen in the summer! Join us if you'd like to be part of the conversation.  EVERYONE is invited to it's a community space and everyone who puts their energy into it has an equal say in what's going on here! Some sweet treats will be on the table to keep our brains fresh! We'll be aiming to finish by around 12.45pm to kick off our regular gardening work party.

This week we will:
  • plant out more plants from the polytunnels into the beds outside - lots of plants are too big for their pots now and they need more space to carry on growing
  • weed raised beds and the herb bed so that the plants we want have the space and nutrients all to themselves
  • finish building the pond! Here it is, in need of some more construction work and filling in. Don't miss the action!

  • clear the beds of mizuna and mustard leaves in the polytunnel - they have flowered with lovely yellow edible flowers (see above) and are still good for salads so there will be lots to take home
  • plant stuff in the polytunnel once we've cleared the beds
  • tend to the wormery
  • water outside beds & polytunnels
  • number beds so that it's easier to understand the list of jobs
  • ready to pick and take home: chard (still lots of it!), parsley, various salads

As for the weeks ahead...

Sundays: garden open 1pm - 5pm-ish

Wednesdays: garden open 4pm - dusk

If it's your first time, or if you're not sure what to do, look out for Penelope and Marta who will be there to provide guidance and advice. Remember that you can drop in at any point and stay for as long as you'd like!

Please feel free, as usual, to bring anything that we can share during our tea & cake break - home-cultivated sprouts, breads and any type of baked goods are always welcome!

See you in the garden on Sunday!

Our wormest wishes,

Team OxGrow
