Advisor of the Year Application 

 
The Advisor of the Year award honors dedicated career and technical education instructors who serve as SkillsUSA advisors. A new process has been put in place by the national office, and upon completion of the Chapter of Excellence Level 2 Application an advisor can apply to be considered the SkillsUSA Georgia Advisor of the Year. A panel will decide the State Advisor of the Year, where they will be submitted to the regional competition. During the national conference, finalist are interviewed and a national winner is selected. 


AOY Qualifications


1. Chapter of Excellence Level 2: Chapter of Distinction. In order to submit an AOY application, the Advisor's school must  have completed Level 2 of the Chapter Excellence Program and submitted the CEP Application online. More information on the Chapter Excellence Program can be  found here:

2. Joined Professional Member of SkillsUSA In addition, the AOY            nominee must have joined SkillsUSA as a Professional Member in the year of the National nomination. 
 
Our application deadline for the Advisor of the Year is February 5th, 2020


State Leadership and Skills Conference 
 
When: March 12 - 14, 2020 
Where: Georgia World Congress Center 
Registration will open on Monday, January 20th, 2020 
Registration Deadline: February 5, 2020 
Registration Fee: $75 

Hotel Policy: All SkillsUSA registered attendees are required to stay at the conference hotel(s) unless within a 25 mile commuter radius and a letter from your administration to the state office indicating their approval of your commuting. 

Late Fee Policy: If you register anyone late for any SkillsUSA event there will be a processing and handling fee of $20 per registrant. There will be absolutely no late registration for competitors. No exceptions. Late registration for observe and advisors will be accepted for two weeks after the registration deadline. Conference materials (i.e. conference t-shirt, promo materials, etc.) cannot be guaranteed as SkillsUSA Georgia may have already placed these orders. Please help us by registering for all events on time! Thank you. 

Please also abide by our no cancellation policy. We are unable to offer refunds for cancellations.

Social Media Ambassador Program
 
The SkillsUSA Georgia Social Media Ambassador program will focus on the Essential Elements of Communication and Computer and Technology Literacy. Social Media Ambassadors will send clear messages to the association's social media audience by writing captions to post for appropriate channels. They will also use technology effectively by improving the flow of conference information and be willing to learn new social media platforms to perform job functions completely. 

Ambassadors will receive stage-side seating during the Opening and Awards Ceremonies, a special access conference edge, and additional perks to be shared with selected attendees.

Ambassador Skill Set: 
  • Proficient in Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Knowledgeable in generating engaging captions for our audience 
  • Understand how to engage a social media audience 
  • Familiar with live streaming on social media 
  • Familiar with Instagram and Facebook stories
Due to a limited amount of WiFi services offered by the state association, Social Media Ambassadors will need to be prepared to use their own data/hotspot. 

Applications are due Friday, January 24. The SkillsUSA Georgia State Office will announce ambassadors on January 31st.
